Copycat P.F. Chang’s Lettuce Wraps

❌❌❌ copycat alert ❌❌❌

The hubby and I have been trying to save a little money here and there by cooking at home 6 out of the 7 days of the week, which means we need to shake it up a bit as far as the meals go. We absolutely cannot eat the same foods over and over again, so we always try and think of different foods to cook.

Tonight’s menu of choice was to go a little Asian with a copycat P.F. Chang’s lettuce wraps. Every single time I eat there, this is the only thing I order.

Ingredients :

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • ½ packet mushrooms (or 2 cremini mushrooms, diced finely)
  • 1-1½ lbs ground chicken
  • 4 – 5 garlic cloves
  • ¼ cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • ½ teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 – 3 tbsp sriracha (if you like spicy, put a little more)
  • ¼ cup diced water chestnuts
  • pinch of ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
  • 2 – 3 green onions
  • 1 head butter lettuce

Directions :

  1.  in a large skillet, add olive oil to medium heat
  2.  add onion and cook for about 3 minutes and then add mushrooms and cook for another 3 minutes
  3.  add garlic and cook until fragrant
  4.  stirring together, add ground chicken and cook until browned; drain excess fat
  5.  season chicken mixture with pepper, hoisin, soy sauce, sesame oil, oyster sauce, ginger and sriracha and stir until all combined
  6.  add chestnuts and green onions
  7.  remove from heat and serve a spoonful in center of butter lettuce with green onions to garnish
